Ray Guy: Assistant COach

Baseball has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. My great-grandfather played in the Detroit Tigers organization, my grandfather was a baseball historian, and my stepfather coached me all the way through high school. I played baseball at Garner Magnet High and later tried to walk on at NC State — GO PACK! After high school, I continued playing for several years in competitive wood bat leagues.

For more than a decade, I’ve coached baseball and softball for a variety of organizations. Coaching is my way of giving back to the game that shaped me — teaching young players not only how to compete, but how to grow as teammates and people.

Off the field, I serve as the Regional Manager for Sola Salons. My career in retail operations has given me years of leadership experience and a passion for developing others to become the best versions of themselves. I bring that same mindset to coaching — focusing on growth, teamwork, and accountability.

My coaching philosophy is built around teamwork and effort. After reading “Row the Boat” by Jon Gordon and P.J. Fleck, I adopted that phrase for every team I lead. It’s about everyone rowing together — with energy, sacrifice, and direction. When each player brings those three things every day, success always follows, both on and off the field.
